PETG

PETG (Polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified) is an easy to mould clear plastic material with about 70% of the impact strength of polycarbonate, but stronger than extruded acrylic or glass.

PETG provides superior heat handling, shock resistance, and comfortable grip. It is more cost-effective than polycarbonate and approaches the clarity of acrylic, which makes it a popular choice of material in more general purpose applications.

Fabrication Methods

PETG can be cut, shaped and joined using:

  • Hot Line Bending
  • Hot Gluing
  • CNC Routing
  • Sheared and sawn
  • Drilling and tapping
  • Punching

Finishes

Duffys offer a range of finishes for PETG including:

  • Transparent (clear)
  • Translucent (tinted)
  • Coloured

Applications

PETG is most commonly used in commercial applications in the packaging, merchandising and engineering industries.

PETG is only used for indoor applications as it discolours over time with UV (Ultra-Violet) light or exposure to the sun.

PETG Plastic is used to manufacture:

  • Machine safety guards
  • Clear panel portions
  • Machine safety guards in less critical areas
  • Dividers between production lines
  • Covers for information and display boards
  • Log book or various A4 sheet holders
